The Next Beta Release
My original idea for this blog was to make a podcast, talking about how I'm making small changes in my life to make it bigger and better. I started playing with Audacity, got a usb headset, wrote an episode zero script (several, actually) and tried to make a go of it. As you might have noticed, there is no podcast. I wasn't happy with the quality of the audio and I cannot afford to sink money into something that I can't get off the ground. I also realized I have no time. When I get home from work, I'm either exhausted, or I am in class. On the weekends, I want to spend time with my family. There is no room for me to start something that is so time consuming.
I've decided that I need to be happy being a podcast audience member, instead of one of the creators. I have some ideas for contributing to a medium that has given me so much. But that is a different post.
However, I still want to use the blog to talk about what I'm doing and how I think it's going. I feel there is a need for me to have an outlet for what I want to say. The posts keep forming in my head, they need to be put to pixels.
So, with that I'm relaunching Life Retooling. Not like there was an initial launch, but there was one in my mind, I'm sorry you weren't there.
I hope you enjoy reading my thoughts. They might not be the best thoughts, but they're all I have.
By the way, since the last post, I had a pretty good run with Linux. Ubuntu 9.10 was good to me, but 10.04 didn't work to my expectations. The ATI card in my laptop was not playing nice with the drivers in Linux and caused my external monitor to be unusable. So, I forked over hard earned money and bought a copy of Windows 7. So far, I'm pretty happy with it. There are enough changes that it feels like a new environment. There is still the Linux pull, but I think I'll manage.
